Some things to consider...
Do you think Donald Trump is discriminating against women?
Do you agree with him leaving vacant areas?
Should we pick who is in the Cabinet based off of the amount of people of a certain gender or by who is more qualified.
Do you think that the lack in females is intentional or perchance?
I don't think trump is discriminating against women, I think he is simply choosing the best person for the job, and the lack of females is just perchance. While he probably should have all of his Cabinet full, I don't think that it is doing any harm. I think the president should pick his Cabinet based off of who is the most qualified despite gender or race or creed. It shouldn't matter, if you are most qualified, you are most qualified.
ReplyDeleteI do not think President Trump is discriminating against women, he has also dismissed male cabinet members too. I also think that the amount of males members dismissed is higher than females. As for the vacant cabinet positions I think that leaving them open until you find the right person for the job is a smart idea rather than just hiring someone immediately after that is not fit for the position. The President should pick who they think is best for each cabinet position regardless of gender, race or any other defining features. Affirmative Action should not decide who helps run our country. I think the lower amount of females is not intentional, if he wanted no women in his cabinet he wouldn't have chosen them just to later dismiss them.
ReplyDeleteI dont think hes discriminating against women, I think it has more to do with the fact that women dont want to be around a man like that. Hes the president. If he thinks its right then Im rolling with it. I think we should pick whoever is most qualified.
ReplyDeleteI don't think President Trump is discriminating against women. I think it is fine for him to leave the positions open until he finds the right person he wants. In the majority of all situation, including this one, the most qualified person should be chosen. If someone is chosen based off of gender, race, etc., and they can't do their job, it makes the situation worse than before. I don't think it is intentional that there are fewer women, if he didn't want women there he wouldn't have chosen them in the first place
ReplyDeleteInteresting topic. I actually did not know this about the Presidential cabinet. I do not think this is an intentional act by the President to eliminate most of the women from cabinet seats. However, I do believe Trump is notoriously sexist and may have an unconscious hint of that when deciding who to put his trust in.
ReplyDeleteKeeping seats open in our government is incredibly risky and irresponsible. Of course if the President could give a more viable reason for doing such a thing than ¨keeping his options open¨, I may reconsider my opinion. Cabinet positions should be given to people based on merit and experience only, as that is how everything should work- ESPECIALLY in our government.
I would like to see some more representation in our government for the female citizens if they were qualified and worthy of such a position. However, it is not as though we have a lack of women who are qualified and ready for the job.
I do not believe that President Trump is discriminating women in this case. Many male cabinet members have also resigned or been fired. This also doesn't mean that Trump only has three women in his administration; there are still many more and most of them that leave end up taking positions at another Trump-supporting employer. I understand why he leaves the positions vacated; it lets him get things done. Its a coincidence because his first wife Ivana did just as much or more for Trump's businesses.
ReplyDeleteI like to think there was no foul intent in the lack of women in his Cabinet. The vacancies should be filled efficiently but without rushing the process. I believe we should base appointments based on merit, but I don't necessarily believe that is always Trump's method of nominating. For example, Betsy DeVos has no degree in education, has never worked in any sort of school environment, and she has never attended a public school. Her own children never even attended public school. Trump chose her as Secretary of Education. I agree with Gabbie in that there is no shortage of women who are qualified for these positions.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe Trump was discriminating against women. To me the best person, whether it be male or female, should be the one that gets the job.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he was discriminating against women. The best person for the job should get the job. It should have nothing to do with gender. I do not understand why he leaves positions open.

ReplyDeleteThe lack of female leaders in our country and around the world, while not the direct intention of some in power, is certainly not perchance. Discrimination against women is dangerously inherent in our society, so much that we sometimes don't even notice it, due to the domination of men throughout history via bloated biological roles and deliberate silencing of women's voices.
On a completely different note, I do not agree with him leaving vacant cabinet positions. If there was no one suitable, of course, that would be understandable, but with all of the talented and passionate people in our country, there are surely many who more than fit the bill. I think this is an example of presidential imperialism and an outright overreach of the President's Constitutional powers. ("Keeping flexibility" is aka Trump keeping more power for himself.)
