President Trump’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, has recently pled guilty to lying to Congress in relation to the Special Counsel Investigation led by Robert Mueller. This investigation is dealing with the 2016 Presidential Election and Russian government interference. Cohen first pleaded guilty to eight federal crimes in August 2018, including tax evasion and making false statements. His most recent confessions involve the plan of building the Trump Tower in Moscow. These confessions are shining a new light onto the Trump-Russia investigation showing that Cohen will now fully cooperate with Mueller. Cohen has said that his choices are best for his family and himself, while President Trump is calling him weak and lying to get a reduced sentence.

Mueller has recently said that Cohen will not be further prosecuted by his Office in regards to his cooperation. However, Cohen still faces a possible five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. His sentence is planned for Wednesday, December 12.

Do you think Cohen is telling the truth?
What do you believe Cohen’s court sentence will be?
What does this mean for Trump and the investigation?

  1. I think that Cohen is telling the truth; it would have benefited him more to not say anything and thus not suffer these consequences. I think this useful information will lessen his sentence. Hopefully his confessions will aid in the Trump investigation, and help get that done and settled all in the clear.

  2. I think Cohen is telling the truth now. I think he has seen his mistake. On the other hand, I don't see why Mueller is still targeting President Trump. I believe Cohen will serve maybe 5 years max in a special prison. Mueller believes he had made progress on the Trump investigation.

  3. I think Cohen is telling the truth because innocent people usually don’t plead guilty. I think it will be a lesser sentence than the maximum since he is pleading guilty. I believe that these things will incriminate Trump and aid with the investigation.

  4. I think he is telling the truth considering he is pleading guilty. I don’t think he will get that much time considering his social status and wealth. I think this will help finally end the Trump- Russian investigation.

  5. He is telling the truth because he plead guilty. Since he plead, the plea deal will mostly likely result in a lesser sentence.I doubt out justice system will decide his sentence based off of his wealth or social status as previously mentioned. Instead they will use the details of the case, and Cohen's confession to decide his sentence. This confession will spark the investigation of Trump and more and more questions will be asked. This will draw more attention to the case.
