Immigrants located in Central America, have been making a mass migration toward the United States and Mexico border. Most of the immigrants are from Honduras. One reason for them leaving their home is because of the poverty. Six to ten homes in Honduras are described as extremely poor. With the immigrants inching toward the border, President Trump and the Pentagon ordered 5000+ soldiers to the border to aid the national guard.
Veterans are in a up-roar because President Trump is sending roughly 5,200 military personnel to the border. Veterans think it is not necessary to protect the border. They believe that the United States should let the immigrants to seek asylum within the United States. A former Marine thought President Trump should not send that many people to the border because the immigrants are “unarmed and already in danger”.
Many say President Trump's decision is just a way to help his agenda. Some say it is wrong to not give asylum to these people in need. According to Henry Fernandez, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, "President Trump is manufacturing a crisis around the caravan for political gain -- to stoke fears and garner votes for the midterms."
Do you think President Trump is doing the right thing by sending more troops to the border? Do you think the United States should provide asylum for the immigrants in the caravan headed toward the border? Should Americans be worried for their safety? What other reasons could there be for the mass migration?
I think it is wrong for President Trump to use our military for his own political gain. These immigrants are not dangerous to our country, but to Trump they are worse than actual terrorists, because his supporters wouldn't be so supportive of his campaign right before the midterms if he let these immigrants seek the asylum they desperately need. Instead, he uses one of his favorite power moves- the military and border patrol- to rile his supporters right before midterms.
ReplyDeletePersonal I believe Trump is doing the right thing by sending troops to the border. I do not have anything against the Mexicans. But I feel like we need better security at our borders, even if that means send our military to the border. I feel like we should not provide asylum to the immigrants. American citizens should not have to fear for their safety. If our military can win wars against different counties, we can surely protect our citizens form them, even if it gets violence. I feel like this mass immigration is them showing trump that a wall will not help. I feel like this will not effect his campaign in the future, a lot of his supporters, supported his decision on the wall, and his immigration policy.
ReplyDeleteI do not think troops should be sent to the border. These people only want a better life for themselves and their families. I think Americans should give these immigrants the asylum they so desperately want and need. I do not think any citizen should fear for their safety, these people are just like any others and only want a safe place to live. I think mass migration is caused by people from bad places in the world wanting to find a safe haven and to raise their children in a non-violent space.
ReplyDeleteTrump is doing what he believes is the best solution to the problem. I think Trump is doing the right thing by sending troops to the border. We have to keep our country secure. It's not that I want to prevent people from entering our country, I just believe that if they really want to come to the U.S. to provide better lives for their children, they can apply for citizenship.
