The deal has also taken on a new name. It will now be called the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. The deal will “strengthen the middle class, and create good, well-paying jobs and new opportunities for the nearly half billion people that call North America home,” said U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer. The USMCA was a win for President Trump. Trump has praised this agreement by posting on Twitter, “The USMCA is a historic transaction.” and saying that “it is a great deal for all three countries.”
This is a big deal for the United States. It is important for the well-being of our farmers and ranchers. I believe that the USMCA will be very beneficial for the U.S. economy and help boost the free markets for dairy farmers and other agriculturalists, as well as businesses.
What is your opinion on the USMCA? How do you think it will affect the United States? Will it be beneficial for all three countries?
If properly executed I think the USMCA will be beneficial to all nations involved. NAFTA was a terrible trade agreement that took advantage of the United States. The new and improved version of NAFTA will positively affect the United States economy and boost trading between the other countries involved.
ReplyDeleteI think that the USMCA will probably be good for the United States (and also hopefully the other two countries involved), but I am worried about the future of US International Trade upon review of the statement by Ottawa's Chinese Embassy, which indicated China's outrage at one of the sections of the new deal. (Section 32.10 calls on the trade partners to inform each other of any trade talks they are having with any other country, basically giving the U.S. a "veto option" that the U.S. could abuse to use to assert political/trade dominance.)
